This map shows the current land cover in the northern Lakes States at 1 kilometer resolution.  It is based on AVHRR satellite data collected in 1990, and processed by the Southern Forest Experiment Staton, USDA-Forest Service.  The area displayed is the Lake States portion of the ecoregion known as Province 212 - Laurentian mixed forest.  National Forest proclamation boundaries are displayed; actual federal ownership is a subset within that area.
