About Ecology and Management of Riparian and Aquatic Ecosystems

The Forestry Sciences Lab of the North Central Research Station is located in Grand Rapids, Minnesota adjacent to the University of Minnesota Extension Service Regional Center and the campus of Itasca Community College.

The Forestry Sciences Lab is composed of two research work units, 4101- Ecology and Silviculture of Northern Lake States Forests, and 4351 -Ecology and Management of Riparian and Aquatic Ecosystems. The Forestry Sciences Lab has a fully functional soil and water laboratory. The Forestry Sciences Lab also houses cooperators from the University of Minnesota.

One of our unit's primary responsibilities is maintaining the Marcell Experimental Forest.
