Land Cover

Land cover data, which are collected using aerial photography and satellite imagery, provide a general description of the condition of the landscape, classifying parcels of land as Agriculture, Forestland, Urban, Wetland, Water, or Barren.

We developed a series of slide shows that depict change in the amount and spatial distribution of land in each of the major land cover types. The first slide show – called Landscape Change – describes changes in each of the 6 major land cover types that are found in the Region. The Percent Change to Forest, Percent Change to Urban, and Hotspots of Change slide shows deal with changes within these specific land cover types.

To continue, select one of the Land Cover slide shows by clicking on the links above – they may also be accessed from the scroll bar on the left side of this page.
